Judge C H Burt Mills

Judge C H 'Burt' Mills Jr is Aransas County Judge in Texas, USA.

Judge Burt Mills was born and raised in Aransas County, having lived his first 19 years on Lamar Peninsula. He joined the US Air Force in 1967, and his first duty station was Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. In 1968, he was stationed in DaNang, Vietnam, and from there he went to Athena AFB, Athens, Greece where he spent his remaining time in the Air Force. Upon his discharge in 1971, he and his wife, Penny, returned to Rockport, where they bought into the family business, Duck Inn Restaurant, which they continued to own and operate until 2007 when they decided to retire from the restaurant business and sold the Duck Inn.

Judge Mills first entered politics in 1978, winning a seat on the Rockport City Council and serving one term. He then ran for the Office of Mayor and served in that capacity for four terms. He was successful in leading Rockport into many new endeavours, such as the commencement and completion of the new Rockport Beach Park.

He successfully ran for Aransas County Judge in 2006 beginning his term on January 1, 2007, and was recently re-elected to his fourth four-year term that began on January 1, 2019.

Judge Mills is currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and a lifelong member of the Stewart/Wendell VFW Post. He has served in the past as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and Chairman of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments. He has been appointed to the Governor's Commission on Disaster Recovery and Preparedness. In addition, he has been appointed to the Texas General Land Office Commissioner's Coastal Resiliency Advisory Group.
