Call for articles 

Liaison Journal is looking for writers who can share their expertise on humanitarian assistance and civil-military co-ordination in complex emergencies.

Liaison Journal is seeking experts to write about the aspects of humanitarian assistance during complex emergencies. Photo: CFE-DM

The Centre for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM) and the Humanitarian Advisory Group (HAG) are working on the next edition together, which will be called Complex Emergencies. They aim to publish an anthology entitled ‘Disaster responses during complex emergencies’, divided into three sections: Protection of civilians; humanitarian notification; and access and politics.

Interested parties might like to consider topics such as humanitarian access, conflict analysis, protection of civilians, humanitarian security, civilian harm mitigation, humanitarian notification systems or interaction with stabilisation actors.

Requirements for submission are as follows:

  • Word count of between 1,000 and 3,000 words
  • short biography and headshot
  • article emailed as an unformatted MS Word document
  • Images emailed as separate, jpeg files


The deadline for submission is September 1, 2020
